There are times that I look around me and think to myself, 'This would never happen in a group of American ladies.'
That happened a few weeks ago, when these pictures were taken.
These are pictures from our trip home from a 2-day ladies seminar in a town about 4 hours away.
Looks like fun, doesn't it!!
Well, can you believe that all these ladies are smiling and laughing and waving and singing despite the fact that we are riding on the back of a flat-bed truck. We're sitting on wooden boards that have been laid across the bed like benches. It's POURING rain, and we're all sitting under a big tarp.
Like I said, if that were a group of American ladies, I'm pretty sure there would be a lot less smiles! In fact at our annual conference every year for the western missionaries, tensions always rise when it's time to get on the bus and noone wants to sit in the back. And that's an air-conditioned bus with soft, recline-able seats!! I can't help but wonder what sort of reaction there would be if a flat-bed showed up instead of the bus!!
If there's one thing I've learned from Filipinos- even the most miserable situations can be fun if you just start laughing!
